Recommended Books
Looking at web pages is all very well, but it's always nice to be able to read a book about brewing. Here are some of my recommended books about homebrewing - books which I own and still refer to. (There may be newer editions than the editions which I give here, but these are the ones which I own.)
The following two books by Graham Wheeler were my major references for many years. I have used many of Graham's ideas and methods in my brewing and particularly recommend 'Home Brewing'. 'Brew Your own Real Ale At Home' has many good recipes for versions of commercial beers for you to try, as well as brief instructions on how to brew.

Brew Your own Real Ale At Home by Graham Wheeler & Roger Protz

The Real Ale Almanac is getting a bit old now - I don't know if there is a newer edition - but it has lots of details of the ingredients (sometimes full details including grist percentages and bitterness in IBU) for many beers. Plenty of ideas for you to experiment with!
The Real Ale Almanac (5th Edition) by Roger Protz
Neil Wilson Publishing 1997

The following books are from the US and are not so easy to come by in the UK - but I thoroughly recommend them all.
Charlie Papazian is legendary in homebrewing circles. Both books are crammed full of facts, recipes and ideas and are well worth obtaining.
The New Complete Joy of Homebrewing (2nd Edition) by Charlie Papazian

The Homebrewer's Companion by Charlie Papazian

The last three are magazines - Zymurgy, which is the journal of the American Homebrewer's Association. These are Special Issues, each one focussing on different issues - Grain, Hops and Yeast. There may be more recent issues than my copies, but each is excellent and worth hunting out.
