Welcome to Mount Trequites!
There are two parts to this website - one section is about making beer at home and the other is about Exwick.
If you're interested in making your own beer then take a look at my Homebrew pages. I've been making my own (full mash) beer at home since 1998 and make about 1000 pints a year so I have a reasonable amount of experience. I soon got around to designing my own spreadsheet to help me calculate the quantities of ingredients to make it - if you want to try using it there is a page explaining how it works and you can download a copy of it. There's a page describing how I go about making a brew from start to finish, and if you want to try some of the beers which I've made there are some recipes for you to try. It's easy to make some of your own homebrewing equipment if you want to save some money, and I've included details of some of the equipment which I use to make my beer and information about how to make them.
Exwick is a part of the City of Exeter, in Devon, England. If you're interested in Exwick, I've included an Exwick section. There are various maps, some local pictures, a brief history and links to loads of other sites. Just click on the 'Exwick Page' link at the top to find out about Exwick. I've added some of the information from my Exwick page to the Wikipedia entry for Exwick so you might want to take a look at that as well.
I was inspired to add some details about Exwick due to a comment on John Partridge's remarkable website, where he said -
"The author recommends everyone to write a website on their own village, town or city and also of the wide and varied knowledge they have built up during their years on this wonderful planet.
This will develop a more truthful view than the many official sites. We need more honest sites without the hype or spin of the local tourist board or government skills training schemes.
Please write your own websites as this is a big, wonderful world, so let's make it better and more truthful."
There's a lot more information about Exwick available on the web now than there was when I originally started these pages, but you'll still find things about Exwick here that you won't find anywhere else!
I taught myself html with the help of the designs at OSWD and the excellent tutorials at Max Design. Max Design is very helpful if you're wanting to make your own website, telling you what is done and why. It's easy to make small changes and see what happens, to help you understand what you're doing.
This site is all my own work, hand coded using a simple text editor. I use Ubuntu at home and the standard gedit as my text editor (which is similar to Windows Notepad). I've tried to keep the design of the site simple and you should be able to view it no matter what the size of your screen (within reason) and what browser you use.
Make sure you visit the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway this year.
